FADEC Full Authority Digital Engine Control with Fly-By-Wire Steering:

Gyro-stabilized Helm with Throttle & Shift, Thrusters, Trolling Valve and Engine Start in one unit. Features include station-in-command indicators, easy station transfer, built-in engine synchronizer, speed/shift sequence protection, rev-up, neutral and start interlock. Fixed and Remote Stations. Speed Mode, Joystick Mode, Hover Mode and Anchor Mode.

Super Soft shifting:  always gentle clutch engagement. Trolling Valve will be used when installed. 

In Hover and Anchor Mode: set Anchor Point (pivot point) either within the vessel, or in front or behind the boat.

Fly-By-Wire Steering-Wheel and Joystick

Operating modes:
Turn-Rate Mode: the steering wheel or Joystick rotation selects the turn rate of the vessel, not the rudder angle. With the wheel in the center detent, the heading will be held. Rudders and eventually Thrusters are used automatically by the Autopilot Computer. This is the principal operating mode.
Servo Mode: rudder position is controlled by the wheel. The rudder follows the wheel movement, same as in a mechanical steering system. This is a simple mode, which does not require a Heading Gyro installed.
NAV or LAND Mode: a programmed course or route, as set in a GPS or plotter, will be intercepted and followed.
Speed Mode: For fishing, towing or surveying,  select the boat speed or Ground Speed you need.
Hover Mode: The boat will hold its present position or sail to and acquire a new active waypoint by use of engines and thrusters, while a selected heading or wind angle will be maintained at the same time.
In Anchor mode the boat's bow or stern seems attached to a virtual buoy (on the GPS), which is set by pressing a button on the Joystick. Virtual Line length can be fed with the Joystick. This mode does not require sideways motion.
Joystick Mode: Forget complicated shift, throttle and steering wheel combinations in close-quarter maneuvering. Simply move and rotate the Joystick in the direction you want your boat to move. Much easier than the traditional way!

Up to eight Fly-By-Wire Steering Wheels or Joysticks can be connected, up to 200 m apart.

Sonic Heading Gyro #910205
Heading Gyro
The Sonic Heading Gyro is the heart of the system. It is a light weight and maintenance free electronic Gyro Compass, manufactured and steadily improved by TECNAUTIC since 1992. Rough seas and rapid motion will not cause errors. The Sonic Heading Gyro is connected either to a display unit or to an electronic steering wheel. The gyro can be slewed to magnetic north by a magnetic sensor or by a GPS. This feature is especially useful on vessels, where a magnetic compass cannot work reliably. For boat stabilization without navigational information, the gyro can be used without compass or GPS, for example in Joystick Mode or in Wind Mode.

H2183 Compass

Magnetic Heading Sensor:  used to synchronize the Sonic Heading Gyro to magnetic north, to avoid long term drifting of the Gyro. Any short term heading fluctuation, which is normal for a Magnetic Compass, will not be seen on the Sonic Heading Gyro. The H2183 has automatic deviation compensation, and in addition it transmits heel and pitch angles.

Autopilot Computer
(Drive Box)

The Autopilot Computer positions the rudder and eventually activates available thrusters, so as to achieve the desired heading, track or wind angle of the boat.
It makes use of an already installed Autopilot Rudder Drive or any new rudder drive.
It connects to the CAN-Bus cable with RJ-45 connectors which can be installed with a simple crimp tool, if custom wiring is selected. Standard cables have connectors already installed.
A reversible rudder motor and its battery are both connected to the Autopilot Computer. So is the electric By-Pass-Valve of a linear hydraulic actuator or the electric clutch of a mechanical actuator.
The same Autopilot Computer can drive a non reversing pump and associated switch-over valves or proportional valves for rudders and thrusters.

Two Autopilot Computers can be installed on the same data bus to drive two pumps, either alternating or parallel, in an augmentation mode, where the second pump starts only when a higher rudder speed is needed.

With two independent rudders or Drives and when in Docking Mode, the boxes will produce individual rudder or Drive angles, as needed according the situation and determined by its software.
